Norma Speckhard, Ph.D., is an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis where she is an instructor of education classes for graduate students in the Teach for America Corps. She has an extensive background in education with a focus on special education and educational therapy. Norma has served as Executive Director of Special Education for St. Louis Public Schools.
In addition, she has served as Executive Director for The Lutheran Association for Special Education and as an Educational Therapist at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where she established a resource room service delivery model in the hospital setting, which became a national model for Children’s Hospitals.
Norma’s exceptional professional accomplishments are complemented by her profound dedication to community service. She serves as a board member for The Judevine Center for Children with Autism, St. Louis Life(Residence for Adults with Developmental Delays), Innovative Academy Charter School and The Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri. Among her many honors and recognitions, Norma received the Christian Service Award for Professionals, The St. Charles Community Service Award and the Joan Davis Life Time Achievement Award. She is recognized as both a Missouri Special Education Teacher of the year and a National Special Education Teacher of the Year and in 1999 was named Distinguished Alumni by Webster University.
